John Wayne is Gary’s favorite actor, so when we found out that we could tour the home he was born in, no discussion was needed. We spent the night in the city campground in Winterset, Iowa. Arrived early enough to set up the rig and tour the home. Cost was $6 for seniors and $7 for adults. Needless to say, we were both very disappointed. The house was filled with photos of John Wayne and his life. Our tour guide did give us some history, but we were expecting more. They are in the process of building a museum and maybe will have more memorabilia. We did learn that he was born in the house and lived there till he was 3.
