Old Tucson Studios

We went to Old Tucson Studios on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The studios were built for a movie called "Arizona". The buildings used in the movie were built out of adobe. After the movie, the place became a set for other movies and tv shows. "Have Gun will Travel", "Little House on the Praire", and "High Chaparral" were some of the tv shows that were filmed at Old Tucson Studios. Of course John Wayne filmed quite a few movies at this site, "Rio Lobo", "El Dorado", and "Rio Bravo". For those of you who saw Will Smith's movie "Wild Wild West", the train used in the movie, the Reno, is located here. In 1950 Ronald Reagan used this site for his movie "The Last Outpost". The comedy "Three Amigos" was also filmed here. They also have a museum that includes costumes worn by Hoss Cartright, Little House on the Praire characters, Big Valley, and one of Clint Eastwood's costumes from the movie "Joe Kidd". The museum also includes many drawings and photos of people such as Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and Belle Starr (just to name a few). It also has Davy Crockett's Old Betsy. They put on free shows during the day. I have posted quite a few more pictures on the webshot site. So, you would like to see more, remember to click on our travel photos. Enjoy
