Salvation Mountain, Niland, Ca.

We went to see Salvation Mountain. Salvation Mountain is the result of a task that was undertaken by Leonard Knight over 23 years ago. He wants to share the message that God Loves Everyone. He began by using a balloon with the message of Gods love. However, the desert climate caused the ballon to rot. Thus began Salvation Mountain. Leonard has been working on Salvation Mountain for over 23 years. He has shaped part of the mountain by using the clay of the mountain and straw to make a form of adobe. People donate gallons of paint to his project. Farmers have given him over 80 bales of hay. People bring him items of wood, glass, or whatever they find and Leonard used those items in his project. 8 or 9 years ago, he began to build what he calls a museum. The museum is supported by sticks that he has put together and by trees he has built out of rubber tires. His work is also a part of the National Art of Treasure. Leonard gives out DVDs in which he conducts a tour of his mountain. His goal is to have a copy of his DVD in every nursing home. He also has puzzles and post cards of Salvation Mountain. I have posted many more pictures of Leonards work. He has also painted his message on trucks, trailers, motor bikes, and tractors that are parked at the mountain.

Palm Springs Air Museum

We visited the Palm Springs Air Museum again this year. While we were there, we saw the cargo plane that was on the runway waiting to fly the body of President Ford to Washington DC.

The campgroud is very good for both tv and internet sats. We are awakened every morning by the sound of the geese flying south. Wonderful sunsets every evening. Posted by Picasa

Campground visitor

We stayed at the NACO Russian River campground in Cloverdale, CA. It is a great campground although small. If you have a large rig, you should not park in sections D or A. We camped at site 67, just headed in not backed in. We were able to get our datastorm satellite and our directv satellites to site in. Both are on the roof. This deer ventured out of the woods in front of our rig. Every morning, we were entertained by a covey of quail. Posted by Picasa

Trees of Mystery, Klamath, Ca

We visited the Trees of Mystery in Klamath. Cost was $13.50 per person. They also have a sky tram and an Indian Museum. We enjoyed seeing all the trees and the wood carvings that told the story of Paul Bunyon. The Indian Museum was also great.
