Soap Lake, Wa
We have been at Soap Lake for about 5 days. The first night we arrived, we caught a bus that took us to the Grand Coulee Dam to see a laser show. Really great show. Our only cost was $4.oo for the bus ride. It took about 1.5 hours to get there on the bus. We played music at the resort last night and received a standing ovation. We really had a great time. I have been taking advantage of the water aerobics classes while Gary has been out fishing. On one of his trips to the lake a truck threw a rock up into the windshield so now our jeep has a brand new windshield. We will be leaving tomorrow for another park. The weather here has cooled off, it is now 73 degrees, and the wind is blowing. Gary is working on his bike tire.

Last days in Montana
Well, our last days in Montana were pretty good ones. We went to Big Mountain in White Fish and rode a gondola up to the top of the mountain. However, there was a lot of cloud cover, so our view wasn't very good. Then we moved on to Libby, Montana. We arrived in time for their car show, Ignite the Nites. Saturday morning, we went down the Gut to see all the cars. Saturday afternoon, we went to see the Burnout contest. That is where they put one foot on the brake and one on the gas pedal. Some of them really made a lot of smoke. The first place prize was a set of tires. The guy who won really needed them as he blew out his rear tires. We had heard about the Kootenai falls, so we took a ride out to see them and the swinging bridge. Was a little bit of a hike to see them, but it was well worth it. Glacier National Park
We are really enjoying our visit to the Park. The best road to drive is the Road to the Sun. What beautiful scenery. Glacier is prettier than Yellowstone, but Yellowstone has more wildlife. We were able to see mountain goats and Bighorn sheep. We are staying at a campground 7 miles outside of the park. There is quite a lot of falls in the park. The rivers are also beautiful.

Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historical Site
A doll made out of Hollyhocks. Cowboy at ranch made this for me.

Grant-Kohrs Ranch. Conrad Kohrs, owner was the Cattle King of Montana. When he arrived in Montana territory, he only owned the clothes on his back. He became a butcher and was able to purchase the ranch from Johnny Grant.
Montana State Prison
We visited the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge, Mt. We were very fortunate to take a tour. Our guide had been a guard for the prison for 33 years. He told quite a few stories about what went on in the prison, both legal and illegal actions taken by the guards. The prison is in the middle of town. For $9 each, we were able to view the Prison, the auto museum, the toy museum, and the Frontier museum.
Prisoners with attitude were handcuffed to the bar on left. They were without clothing in this cell for about 9 days or more. Before they were placed here, they had spent a few days in the black box.
This cell was home to Turkey Pete who had a life sentence for killing 2 men. He died in prison.
